These three principals will help you achieve a more profitable and happier work and personal environment. When appropriate, I’ll include some resources that I have come across in my quest to achieve nirvana.
Simply put, stop doing the stuff you don’t have to do. How many times do you catch yourself working until 10:00pm or later, doing something so insignificant that nobody would even notice if it has been done or not? Are your clients paying you for this work or is it something you just think you have to do? Again, refer to the 80/20 rule. Does it have something to do with the 20% who generates 80% of your income?
Stop doing repetitive tasks. Does a windows service constantly need to be restarted? Write a script to do it. You need to automate everything you can. If you specialize in a niche market, this becomes easier as you go.

If it is something that cannot be eliminated or automated (because it is technically impossible, unfeasible or a one-time task), have someone else do it. If you have someone in your organization that can handle the task, have them do it. If not, consider outsourcing it.
